My 12-year-old son LOVED this book! He received the set as a Christmas gift. He said it was well-written and an exciting story, plus "awesome, amazing, and soooo cool. Every kid should read it." He can't wait to get to read the rest of the series. He is typically a non-fiction reader who focuses more on science, history, and biographies, but this work of fiction captured his attention. He read it in just a few days--he could hardly put it down! He enjoyed discussing the book with his dad and me, his grandparents, and his friends. He thought the story was very interesting and needed to be shared. As a Christian parent, I like that there are no "issues" I have to worry about--no hidden political agendas. Just good clean fun. I don't have to worry about him having nightmares or unnecessary fears when he's reading this author. And there's no swearing or "romance." He's not going to pick up on bad attitudes or bad behaviors from a character who misbehaves the entire book until the end when he finally learns a lesson--not in this book, but so common today in children's books and cartoons. It's a wonderful series for children of discerning parents. My younger son is currently working his way through the book now, and his description of the book is, "It's a very exciting, interesting and fun book."
Excellent read for pre-teen kids - and adults!

I bought this book along with the last in the Star-Fighters of Murphy Street series, after finding the first one so engaging. My pre-teen grandson couldn't put volume one down and has already finished this and volume three and he has just been out of school for a week! I have read all three books and highly recommend them for anyone wanting a wholesome adventure series for their kids.
