Elyssa and Hunter were fabulous. I thought that it was a great book w/ a great storyline. If you liked this book, you will also like Winter Fire.

Another wonderful Lowell story. As an administrator in higher education, I can appreciate the value of the research that Ms. Lowell must do for these historical novels. It is quite thorough and so realistic that I can smell the animals, taste the beans and coffee, and feel the bullets whizzing by my head! And, of course, Hunter is the perfect rugged hero who is determined to resist the lady, but cannot do so. This initial personality conflict creates great sexual tension. The sequel to this story, Winter Fire, may be even better, but read Autumn Lover first.
Couldn't put it down!

This was my first book by Elizabeth Lowell and one of the few historical westerns I have read. If all the historical westerns out there were as well written as this I would read more of them. Lowell did an excellent job of allowing the reader to really get inside the main characters heads. The passion and the emotions between Hunter and Elyssa jump right off the pages at you. I was dissapointed when I realized I was near the end of the book but glad that I had Winter Fire to start right away so I could find out what happened to Case and the Culpeppers. I will definitely buy more of Lowell's books.

I couldn't wait to get to the next chapter. This was my first Lowell book and I wasn't disappointed. I actually went out and bought the sequel "Winter Fire", I enjoyed that one just as much. I was sorry to see that this was the end of the Maxwell brothers, wish there were a few more! I would read anything by Ms. Lowell she's a talented writer that gets your attention from the first page.
