Standing on the banks of a country creek, wearing a dress and a straw hat, the sun shining off my auburn hair reminded my grandfather of his late wife, my Grandma Ruth. A few years later a music ledger made its way to me, with a poem written on the first page. These moments steered me down a path towards writing. Poetry is my first love, and yet until recently my poems were deeply private. For in poems I could express all hurts, sorrow, pain, grief, love, hope and more. For the first time those words are laid bare. This is my life in my own words. You are invited to peek behind the curtain and peel back the veils. I began writing with the hope that I could bring comfort and connect to those who read my words and no work evokes a response quite the same way as a poem.
