Surprisingly.. Best I've read in a While

This book collects 4 Annuals from 1995: Shadow of the Bat #3 by Alan Grant Detective Comics #8 by Chuck Dixon Batman #19 by Doug Moench Legends of the Dark Knight #5 by Chuck Dixon 207 glossy pages for such a modest price the book would be worth it if it were lousy, but it's anything but lousy. The book seems to take place in Batman's early career. Think just after Miller's Year One era. Each chapter is both an origin and tale of the first meeting of a supervillain and the caped crusader. Poison Ivy, Riddler, Scarecrow and then Man-Bat. Even if you've been reading Batman for a long time these stories will add depth to the characters and if you're like me you'll develop sympathy for them as well. Any serious BatFan should love this book.
