Battle Sea Blues is the first of a series of novellas featuring the cast and crew of the live 1950s sci-fi program, Pylon 7. Episode One focuses on the meager beginning of Battle Sea Studios, an upstart production company run by Casper L. Grove, who is also the producer of the show. Patrick Towne is the main character, a secretive former movie star whose personal problems put his career on hold and whom Casper has tapped to star in Pylon 7. Along with production assistant Grace Tucker, Patrick struggles to keep rein on the chaos of unruly castmates in a rushed production as the broadcast date looms ever closer.
