The sixth installment of Karma Wilson's award-winning, New York Times bestselling series about a Bear and his forest friends. Autumn has come to the woods, and Bear doesn't feel well. He sniffles and sneezes. He cannot sleep. He aches all over. Worst of all, he's feeling too poorly to play with his friends. How Bear's good friends take care of him with herbal tea and lullabies until he begins to FEEL BETTER is the heart of this loving story that will be familiar to any little one who has ever had the sniffles.
I have been reading the Bear books to my daughter since she was a toddler and we have many books in the series. In "Bear Feels Sick", dear old bear feels poorly and keeps sneezing and wheezing. When his woodland friends [rabbit, mouse, mole, crow etc] come to visit and call him to play, he says he is too sick to play. So what do Bear's friends do? They get together and try to make Bear feel better - collecting herbs, applying a cold compress, fixing him some nourishing soup etc. Soon, Bear is all better, and all ready to play - but finds his friends are now sick! What does Bear do? This is a heartwarming tale about the value of friendship - sticking together and helping each other out during times of difficulty. As usual, the text is written in 'simple' language, perfect for preschoolers and the illustrations are full-color and simply beautiful. I would recommend all the books in the Bear series as they all have a heartwarming message and are wonderful for reading aloud. Bear and friends are such cute characters that little ones can relate to and you will have your child clamoring for more Bear and friends' adventures!

We got this for my 3 yr old for Christmas and it has become one of both of our favorites. "Bear Snores On" has longtime been in my top 5 of children's books to read to her, and this one is another wonderful story. We've been reading it a lot lately with both of us having bad winter colds and there's something soothing and relatable about it. I love how it ends -- Bear finally feels better, but his friends are now sick and he tells them he'll take care of them. Very sweet. And -- the illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. You will love it!

I love the Bear books and I have every one in the series. I started getting them for my older son when the series first started with Bear Snores On and now I'm reading them all to my younger son as well. Sometimes we have a Bear Book Marathon and read all of them right in a row, it's so much fun! I definitely recommend not only this book but the entire Bear Book series - Bear Snores On, Bear Wants More, Bear Stays up for Christmas, Bear's New Friend and Bear Feels Sick.
Love that Bear!

My 22 month old son and I love this book. We started with Bear Snores On and we really enjoy Karma Wilson's beautiful verse, which can be read in so many different ways. My son (being sick right now) can really empathize with Bear and his friends. Our favorite part about this book is that when the tables inevitably turn, Bear is enthusiastic about taking care of his friends too. Beautifully illustrated by Jane Chapman again!
Another adorable bear book

All of Karma Wilson's bear books are sweet and endearing and teach about friendship. Her books are about the only ones I trust to read to my son without previewing ahead of time for inappropriate content. In this one, bear's friends take care of him when he feels ill and he returns the favor when they become sick. It's wonderful that "Bear's New Friend" owl is here. The illustrations by Jane Chapman are lovely. These books are classics and should be a part of every young child's library.
