It's 1861 and The Trailsman in in the Beartooth Range, where no one ever went, because few had ever come back.He had been given a contract by the Army.Major Wilson had asked him to "Scout around," and "Let us know what the country is like.Keep on the lookout for Indian sign. And for God's sake,be carefuL" The weather turns unexpectantly bad and Fargo finds himself caught in a horrible blizzard,so bad that his days are finally coming to an end,not defeated by an enemy, from a bullet or arrow in the head or back;or by finally losing a battle with a grizzly. It is a blizzard that in the end overcomes all his strength and ability to survive, and he is resigned to meet his fate, falling asleep into a frozen slumber. Unbelievably, he is found and rescued ,and that leads him into a situation which he must repay a favor to a family that faces a fate even worse than the death that Skye was approaching. This is a different, but nonetheless an exciting story, filled with lots of action, struggles against hopeless odds, but one that will keep the reader engrossed to the end. Fargo uses all the abilities he has gained in his years as a frontiersman, taking on just about every adversary imaginable;but in the end ,he could only admit; "Three pieces of pemmican saved our lives."
