The Best College Guide to Competitive Colleges

Of the 6 guides we used in our college search, we found this to be the most complete and useful with unbiased information about academics, quality of life and admissions. The Fiske Guide to Colleges was probably the second most informative.

My (junior) daughter and I just returned from visiting eleven colleges. We brought 5 college guides with us. 311 Best Colleges was the absolute best we had - that and "Visiting Colleges" which gives excellent directions and tour time information etc. We found all information in both books to be remarkably accurate.

I am a Junior in high school begining my neverending search for the "perfect" college. This book provided me with information that i didnt' find anywhere else. It contained information which one could only obtain by talking to students that attend the college.

If there's anything at all negative to say about a particular school, this book will say it - in no uncertain terms. But that is frequently done in the context of a quote from a student, and I worry about how representative that opinion is. The Quality of Life ratings and remarks are especially useful. All in all, a powerful weapon to add to your college-choosing arsenal.
