A touching and inspiring tale of the Texan pioneering spirit, English eccentricity, and two women old enough to know better. When Susie Kelly decides, age 50+, on a whim, to trek alone across France... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This would have to be one of my all time favourite books. The author Susie Kelly decided to walk from the picturesque South Of France to Lake Geneva in Switzerland because she got tired of the same old views every time she went for a walk around the block!!!It is a testament to her skills as a writer that she could make such a journey so interesting and entertaining to read. Having ditched her portable cooker and fry pan Susie was at the mercy (and merci!!) of the restaurants and French chefs that she encountered along the way.Their vegetarian cooking skills were limited so the author ate a lot of omelettes and is said to remark' An omelette is at best , an omelette'.The book is full of gems like this and I found myself cheering Susie on during her wondrous journey.
