It liked this book. It was logical, well-written and complete. It was comprised of seven sections and 19 chapters: §1. Follow your dream to franchise ownership (1-3) §2. Are you a franchise person? (4-6) §3. Find the right franchise for you (7-9) §4. How much will it cost? (10, 11) §5. The UFOC and Franchise Agreement (12, 13) §6. Due Diligence (14, 15) §7. Finance your franchise (16-19) §A. Resources 1. What a good franchise can do for you 2. The wide, wide world of franchises 3. The franchise players 4. Who's the boss? 5. What kind of franchise person are you? 6. It takes a village 7. Seventeen steps to franchise ownership 8. Assess franchise opportunities 9. Where to search for franchise opportunities 10. Cost overview 11. How much will you make? 12. The Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (UFOC) 13. The Franchise Agreement 14. Interview other franchisees 15. Interview the franchisor 16. Start-up funding 17. Explore your financing options 18. Write the franchise Business Plan 19. Welcome to the world of franchise ownership This book claims to provide an insider's guide to success with franchises. In my humble opinion, it delivers. By reading it you will learn how to succeed in the altenative small business world of franchising. This book will help the reader navigate the process of buying a franchise. The specifics of the purchasing process are covered in Chapter 7. This book does a good job covering both the Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (UFOC) and the typical Franchise Agreement. These documents are central to any franchise. Although this book should not be used as a substitute for legal counsel, it does a nice job of covering these two legal documents so you can be an educated consumer before you seek legal assistance from an attorney who specializes in franchise matters. I would have liked the book better if it had gotten a little more detailed. The book actually is not all that long. Its page count and weight are somewhat normal. But that is due to formatting and type size. I feel as though there could have been a little more meat on the bones of this book. And if it had had more sidebar stories and more in depth coverage of the topics covered, then I would bump this tome up to a 5 star rating. But don't skip it just because I gave it something lower. It's a good book. 4 stars!
