Bicycling Magazine's Mountain Biking Skills by Ben Hewitt has been fully revised and updated to provide enthusiasts with all the tactics, tips, and techniques they need to master any type of terrain.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Coming in at 118 pages, and a smaller size book, this is what it is. No, it's not a mountain bike master level course, but you really need a video for that. This is a great basic rundown for a new mountain biker or teenager looking to get into the sport, but who doesn't want to read War and Peace about it. It has a basic rundown of many skills people use every day but don't realize they are using them. I would suggest this book, but not as a stand-alone, I would pick up this, Ned Overends book, and a D.I.Y. MTB repair book if you want to get a good feel for MTB basics and mid-level skills. You should also check out videos as well though.
Complete information but not enough illustration

I prefer the other Mountain Bike Magazine's "Complete Guide to Mountain Biking Skills", which has better illustration/pictures to show you how the situation looks like.
As good as it gets!

I purchased this book yesterday and was impressed immediately. The book has a lot of excellent tips on every aspect of MTB. Another added bonus is the drills it has to help to develop increased riding skills. The tips are set up to gradually build confidence as you progress. The tips by some of the pros Overend and Susan Dematte for example are great. If you are looking for a book to help with all aspects of MTB this is the one to get. I will be recommending this book to friends and that is for sure.
