From the last days of the Reagan era, through the ups and downs of the Bush presidency, and into the time of Bill Clinton's triumphs and many troubles, this collection is the best of Kinsley's... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Avoid cliches whenever possible... and it is always possible. Mike Kinsley knows this and offers a collection of his essays and editorials that try very hard to offer an unusual spin on political events and issues. Sometimes this leads to pieces that are quite simply irrelevant and gimmicky, but at other times Kinsley's sparkling wit and sarcastic bite will produce truly memorable essays. His book review of that dismal tell-all by Carville and Matalin is simply one of the finest pieces of writing I have ever come across-- it floored me. Sometimes, unfortunatley, Kinsley falls prey to the most common liberal flaw: He cares too much what conservatives think. This leads him to go for the unpredictable when he really should go for the jugular.

A must for any fan of Michael Kinsley, though slightly less funny than his previous collection, Curse of the Giant Muffins.
