I used this text when it was brand new,and am thrilled to find it again. Key Ideas is an excellent text,it's chapters are in the exact order necessary to teach scientific method, metric measurement, collecting data, presenting that data and writing conclusions. The chapters in the next units then ask students to apply those skills in every lesson. The labs which are included in each lesson, require only the most basic equipment, and many of the materials can be picked in your yard, or purchased at the market. Key Ideas is this teachers' dream book.
New Life for Old Text

This text was originally written for middle school or junior high students with little or no background in life science. Despite the passing years since first publication, I have found it to be a wonderful text for returning community college students who have sciene anxiety. If its been awhile since you tackeled that Biology course, then this text can get you ready to take your first Introductory Biology course for non-majors.
