Crossing paths with bounty hunter Train is seriously bad luck for criminals Train Heartnet, also known as "Black Cat," was an infamous assassin for a secret organization called Chronos...until he abandoned that cold-blooded existence to live on his own terms as an easygoing bounty hunter. But is Train's past as far behind him as he thinks? With her fate lying in Sephiria's manipulative hands, Rinslet becomes a pawn in the Cerberus commando team's search for Creed and their ongoing attempt to destroy the Apostles of the Star. Meanwhile, a stranger sends Train, Sven and Eve on a mission to find a missing person they may already know all too well.
I started reading the Black Cat series before the anime series came out on TV and I enjoy seeing the differences. In vol 8, Sephiria(No. 1 in charge of Chronos numbers) and Rinslet Walker(professional theif) meet. Sephiria shows the manipulative side of Chronos. She gets Rinslet to help Chronos find Creed and the Apostles of the Stars, and sends someone to involve Train and Sven to go after Creed. Cerberus is introduced. They are three of Chronos numbers, Jenos(no. 7), Nizer(no. 5) and Beluga(no. 11). Their combined assasination abilities can bring down an army. But can they bring down the Apostiles of the Stars by killing Creed? I found the introduction of the new characters, mixed with the old characters to be interesting. I enjoyed finding out Chronos numbers and Apostiles of the stars abilities. The series sort of(and I do MEAN sort of) reminds me of the Xmen. Only down side is Creed taking Rinslet Walker as hostage, again. Once is enough.
