Although this episode strted out in West Bend ,Kansas in 1862; most of the story tales place in New York City.It is a well written story, but much more of a detective story and more like what we expect from Mickey Spillane and his character Mike Hammer. It is all about O'Grady ,trying to find out who killed his old pal Del Locken and why he wants to kill him as well.Instead of travelling around on a horse, O'Grady spends his time being driven around New York in a horse drawn cab ,driven by a newly found sidekick,Rosewood. As this is only the second episode that I've read in this series,I'm still trying to figure out whether O'Grady ,a Secret service Agent, is more of an eastern sleuth or a bonified lawman of the Old West .Although Jon Sharpe is also the "author" of the great "Trailsman " western series,I get the feel that whoever wrote this episode is more of a Mystery or Detective writer than a Western writer. It has none of the language ,expressions, enviroment, atmosphere, characters or much else we normally get in an Old West Western.
