Four brave siblings were searching for a home - and found a life of adventure Join the Boxcar Children as they investigate the mystery of Blue Bay in this illustrated chapter book series beloved by generations of readers. The Boxcar Children are on a trip with Grandfather to a beautiful island in the South Seas The island is supposed to be deserted, but as the Aldens explore, they start to find signs that suggest they are not alone. Is there a castaway living somewhere on the island? What started as a single story about the Alden Children has delighted readers for generations and sold more than 80 million books worldwide. Featuring timeless adventures, mystery, and suspense, The Boxcar Children(R) series continues to inspire children to learn, question, imagine, and grow.
Have read the first eight Boxcar Children books and think this is one of the three best with the other two being The Yellow House Mystery and The Woodshed Mystery. The Blue Bay Mystery involves a trip most children and adults can only dream about. Surprise Island was good also. With the Box sets 1-4 and 5-8, four books are available for the price of two and a half. I read these books in order and there are references in the books to events and characters in previous books but not enough that the books could not be read out of order or as stand alone books. Gertrude Chandler Warner wrote the Boxcar Children books over a period of many years from the 1940's to the 1970's. She must have enjoyed writing them and that spirit comes through in her books.

I liked the part when they found the turtle shell and the stones in the water. It was cool when they found the button in the fish. It was very mysterious when they found somebody had taken the crackers. I would reccommend this for other first graders and beyond. It was a cool book. Annelies age 7
Another one of my favourites

I used to read this and think it would be so fun to go to a tropical island with Lars and the Boxcar Children and live on sea biscuits. I still find it a very good book. I'm not sure what the other reviewers mean about its being slow at the beginning - every story has to have a beginning. You can't jump into the action without a bit of setting or you fall flat. Anyway. I didn't find it slow.I recommend it greatly, especially if you like stories of survival on remote islands.
It kept my attention. It had cool stuff like a talking bird.

It kept my attention. The Boxcar Children are on an island they think they are alone. But they aren't, soon they find a boy, named Peter, who was skip-wrecked. There are a lot of exciting parts, such as when they find a giant turtle shell and when they hear about Peter's friend who went swimming in water where sharks were spotted. He never returned. The ending is good too because they find the lost boy's mother and father. Review by M. D'Adamio
