I lent this book to a friend of mine and he refused to give it back, forcing me to be purchase another copy. What can I say Bluetooth Profiles IS the definitive guide to Bluetooth. No developer should be without a copy.

I looked at Bluetooth Profiles expecting to be bored by yet another technology book. I am a software developer going through some hard times and having to keep afloat in a drowning market. Keeping your skills up to scratch is really important if you want to stay in work in the current climate. This book was unexpectedly good. I already had a basic knowledge of bluetooth but now I am able to talk about it to potential employers with a lot more confidence than before. It was obviously written with developers in mind so I guess this isn't such a good buy for non-technical people. But for us developers it really does help to make sense of Bluetooth and I would recommend it for anyone wanting to understand the profiles.

This book introduces all the profiles within the specification in a clear and dynamic manner. The mixture of illustrations and tables are used well, providing the reader with a clear representation of the subject.The book introduces the relationship of the protocols and the profiles and looks at how they actually make up the applications we now see on the market. It continues providing an in-depth presentation of each profile, in a very well structured way. There is no randomness here! The profiles are presented with an insightful review of user expectations and possible future applications. Each chapter offers a presentation of the expected dependencies that a profile relies upon to get a fully working application. Sufficient detail is provided too, highlighting the idiosyncrasies of the Bluetooth protocol stack. Tables and illustrations are used well here.In my opinion there is only one book on Bluetooth and that's Gratton's Bluetooth Profiles.

As a senior developer I can thoroughly recommend this book to anyone working with Bluetooth. I had been looking for a book specifically about the profiles and was not disappointed with my selection. The author considers every conceivable aspect of the profiles and discusses their various relationships in a fresh and challenging way. In my opinion, the profiles are too understated in other books and too little understood by those who develop it. Like myself, I am sure other readers of this book will greatly benefit from its content.

I picked up a copy of this expecting it to be just another book on bluetooth and was real surprised by what I found. As a developer I read a lot of technical stuff and most of it sends me to sleep, but this is a completely different approach to explaining how the profiles work. The book explains every profile and talks about the protocols in there context emphasizing the relationships. It makes you think about the user experience and how it should be developed. Awesome!
