Homicide cops Eliza Ochoa and Ike Horner are on the scene of a body dump in a midwestern city, crouching over the freezing corpse of another dead working girl. As they go over the last days of a young prostitute's life, the facts lead them into a conspiracy that stretches from the darkest holes in Booth to the fringes of its influential families.
It's a cold morning and homicide cops Ike Horner and Eliza Ochoa are on the job at a murder scene in the Midwestern town of Booth City. At first glance it appears the freezing corpse is female and they believe a prostitute has been murdered. However, because of the horrific way the body has been mutilated, it is impossible for them to know on the scene that the victim is actually male. Turner and Ochoa are the kind of investigators who worry at a crime the way a bull dog does a bone. The are dogged and determined and they eventually discover a dark conspiracy that reaches deep into the city's most influential families. At times it seems justice and fair play are not possible in Booth City, but the intrepid duo are set to prove that it is in this page turner races to a conclusion that will have you up all night long. This is a grim and gritty page-turner that has a pretty nasty bad guy, who will have cold chills running up your spine. It is a chilling read, almost a horror story. I just loved it.
