A boy living in Port Orford, Oregon became the owner/operator of a commercial fishing boat at age 13, gradually gaining coastwide acclaim as a highline fisherman. He charted his own course in life, struggling through problems at home, in school, in sports and on the ocean. Oregon strong, he overcame personal injury, loss of friends and family, and survived hurricane-force winds at sea. Finally, settled-in, and happily married to his high school sweetheart, he nearly lost his life to massive, breaking waves on a river bar. In the end, he came to the realization that he was not "Born to Fish" after all.
