EXCELLENT SOURCE FOR BASIC AND VALUABLE INFORMATION

I have very mixed feelings about this particular work. We presently own two Boston Terrier's; to of a long line of these wonderful animals. I like this book as it is an excellent source of general and not so general information (emphasis being placed on the "general"). I do have to agree though with another reviewer in the fact that this book is not quite a breed specific as I would have liked. Now don't take me wrong, the information found here is quite accurate, helpful and informative, but the vast majority of the information could well apply to just about any breed of dog. This is fine and dandy, but for those who have owned these delightful animals, there are other books on the market which are a bit more specific. The section covering breed history and origin is interesting, if not as in depth as I would have like to have seen and it was very weak as to breed standards and showing. But that all being said, the information here is quite valuable and If you are not familiar with this breed, are a new owner or are contemplating becoming an owner, then this work will be quite useful to you. The format is easy to follow and the text is quite specific. I suppose for your money and for general, common and not so common sense, this is a good buy and a very useful book to have around and I do highly recommend it. For those who are a bit more curious, have been around dogs most of their lives, and are comfortable around this breed, I would recommend the many works out there that are a bit more specific. All in all though, this is a good book and a good buy. One nice thing about it, these "Dummie" books can always be relied upon to give good accurate information. Don Blankenship The Ozarks

Very Complete Book!

In the process of getting a Boston Terrier puppy, we've read several books including the Boston Terriers for Dummys. We could have saved ourselves the trouble of the other books by just getting this one. This book had all the same information as the others, but also included detailed health discussions as well as developmental (puppy stages) information which is very helpful. It helped us understand more about proper care as well as growth and needs. It's section on training was also better than most. Highly recommended if you are just buying one book on the subject.
Beautiful Boston Bulls

This is an excellent book for people who own Bostons or those who are interested in the breed. You will learn about the origins of this spirited little hybrid dog (Bostons are the result of crossing old English bulldogs with small white terriers) as well as how to train and care for your Boston throughout your pet's life. Bostons are delightful, high spirited little dogs. Small and compact, they have bulldog faces and hardy, sturdy bodies. They are extremely intelligent as a breed and need a lot of one-on-one handling. Bostons are generally eager to please and make wonderful family pets. It is important to know how to care for pregnant Bostons. Fortunately, this book has a good section on pregnant Boston bull care. More often than not, pregnant Bostons have to have their puppies delivered by C-section because Boston puppies have extremely large heads that would make for a difficult delivery. Feeding and making a place for the pregnant Boston is included. This is an excellent book for anybody who owns or just plain loves a Boston bull.
