Bouquet was indeed a pleasure to read. Roberta Gayle's story makes one think twice about what friendship between a man and a woman could really be. Anna Larence's tale was warm, comical and spoke to the possibility of love when you think all hope is lost. And Gail McFarland's was a lesson in expectations. Who knows? Maybe you'll walk into a flower shop one day and meet your true love. Bravo ladies! Great job.
A "Superbowl" Saver!

Okay, I admit it...I'm the only one in Atlanta who didn't watch the Superbowl. It was raining, Media One screwed up the cable, and I had this one book left on the shelf. Gotta say, the first two stories were warm-ups (good ones, though) for the main event. "This Side Of Forever" knocked me out! It had me screaming with laughter and looking for my own box of Famous Amos cookies. It's a great story! Jamal Anderson (of the Falcons) is cute, but I'm glad I got hooked on this story instead!

These ladies have got it going on!

Hot and sassy are not the words I usually use for my Mother's Day gifts, but this book was the exception. The characters are fiesty and fully reflective of all the women of color I've known throughout my life. This is the first Arabesque book I've had a chance to read, but I plan on looking at a lot more in the near future. Witty and literate, this was a refreshing change from the gooey, malaprop infested, African-American romance of just four or five years ago. If these writers are representative of the "new breed", I can see what all the fuss is about, and heartily applaud their efforts.

These are stories written with a woman's heart in mind. All of the heroines are bright and stunningly beautiful in their own ways. I particularly like the fact that they are not all perfect -- something that has readily and completely stereotyped romance novels over the years. Without giving away any of the plots, let me say that while I was pleased with Ms. Larance's work "The Preacher's Wife, I was thrilled that Ms. McFarland's "This Side of Forever" was the last story in the collection. Funny, insightful, and warm, it was the kind of story we all love to dream on.
