The bestselling "master of the medical thriller" (The New York Times) delivers a terrifying case of an otherwise healthy woman who dies on the operating table, and the conspiracy surrounding her death that follows... When a healthy young woman's routine checkup ends with her seizing in the doctor's office, Dr. Martin Philips becomes convinced that something is terribly wrong. Why would a 21-year-old woman in peak physical condition die on the operating table--and then have her brain secretly removed? An inexplicable rash of female patients exhibiting bizarre psychotic and sexual behavior has Dr. Philips very, very concerned--and afraid. Something is wrong in the great medical research center where he and his lover Dr. Denise Sanger work, and they place their careers and very lives in jeopardy as they penetrate the eerie inner sanctums of a medical world gone mad with technological power and the lust for more.
Recommended by a teacher, Robin Cook, the first novel that caught my attention was Brain, my first Cook book too. this book had it all. I'm not a reader at all, and I dont usual enjoy it, but this book kept my interest and I couldn't put it down! Brain gives an amazing sense of imagery. Confusing, but you get the hang of it. I would DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone who wants a quick intense read!

Robin Cook is truly a classic writer of our age. His medical thrillers are surpassed by no one - except Michael Crichton, perhaps. I thought the pace of this particular novel was electrifying, and the romantic subplot one of the most emotionally gutwrenching that I have ever read.. Bravo!, Mr Cook - keep on writing !!!
The best ever by Cook!

I know some people have found it too technical but for me it was the best ever. For someone on the medical field who understands the terminology, the book is great. I was very surprised at the end since I had no idea who was behind all that was happening. I have read several of Cook's books as well as other medical thrillers but I think this was one of the best that I had ever read!
Almost on the edge of my seat till the end! I fell off!

the story was a good story because i didn't know what was going to happen till the end, and, yes, I did fall off of my bed reading it! OOPS. I would recommend it for someone who like to see a plot thicken in front of their faces! Some other books I have read by him are Harmful Intent and Outbreak. I just started reading Mutation, so... Good Reading
