i first read this book in the early '80's after stumbling across it in a remainder bin in a simpson-sears store in winnipeg. i feasted upon it as a person lost in a desert stumbling across a fresh water lake. it was, to my knowledge, (i could be wrong), one of the earliest, if not the first, books on how-to look great though big. this book changed my life, by telling me that i had a right to look & feel great & to be treated well in spite of my size. (how dare i want to be treated as though i deserved respect?!) my self-esteem rose 1000% after reading this book, a course that continues to this day. much of the book is about how to dress, which helped me find my style. i also loved the first the first part of the book about her own personal story with weight "problems" (percieved by the world at large (so to speak) not nessesarily her). it made me realize that i was not alone. i bought the extra copies in the remainder bin & gave them to my fat girlfriends. i love her for her courage in sharing her story & my copy remains on my shelf for when i need a self-esteem boost.
