Bubblegum Wasteland is the story of two young protagonists on parallel journeys through a strange, mysterious and ever-shifting dream world. Clarissa is a young woman freshly out from under her sheltered suburban upbringing. Rather than spread her wings, she's been tasked with seeking out her rebellious older brother. Clarissa and her tiny robotic companion and chaperone, Ruger follow her brother's trail to the Bubblegum Wasteland, a desert made entirely of candy and filled with treacherous beasts with hungry, gumdrop smiles. David is a 15-year-old boy with Down syndrome. Fleeing from a mysterious, city-destroying monster with his father, David soon finds himself alone in an underwater city called Deep Street. Utilizing nothing but his wiles and a backpack filled with his favorite things, David must not only survive, but reunite his family. These wildly different scenarios soon merge as Clarissa and David discover that their world is not as it seems, and even stranger settings and characters await them beyond the shifting walls of their own personal nightmares. Pursed by David's monster, the two must embark on a journey into the unknown, unite a small family of dreamers and outcasts, and solve the mystery of the Bubblegum Wasteland.
