Life After Death In My Bedroom: The language of death for the 21st century

We do not lose the ones we love. They only go before.

Where there is everlasting life, and where sorrow is no more.

The road through grief is different for each of us as we walk our unique paths. Like a fine snowflake or fingerprint, no two people will have the same exact experience of how the process of grief unfolds for each. Furthermore, when we are "recovering" after a loved one's death, there is no rule book that says we will experience a "final" closure to our mourning, and that the pain will never rise again. Mourning is no race, and there is no definitive finish line we must cross, in which we won't ever react again to the passing of someone we hold dear.

As a grieving widow speaking on how to survive and thrive on the unspoken reality of death, author Evelyn Johnson's honest, unadorned, and compassionate voice is heard in every soft-spoken page, as someone who has been there, and as someone who wishes to speak and guide you through the confusion and pain of grieving. Johnson champions the importance and freedom of being able to openly ask questions and speak about death. Too often in our culture, those in pain are afraid to speak, and they watch society move on as if nothing has changed, until the next death comes to pass, when the cycle continues anew.

You are not alone. Johnson breaks the silence within these pages, and offers respite, comfort, guidance, and, above all, an understanding ear for all readers learning to speak this new language of death.

Evelyn J. Johnson, ED.D., has almost four decades of professional experience in the public schools in North Carolina where she earned the title: leader of leaders. She earned her B.S. in Elementary Education at Winston-Salem State University, her Masters from East Carolina University of Greenville, North Carolina and her Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Nova Southeastern University of Florida.

In her 38 year career in Education, Evelyn has had many roles ranging from a classroom teacher, principal, educational consultant Director of Special Projects to Leadership Coach and Motivational Speaker. Dr. Johnson enjoys and has successfully taken calculated risks in every position she held. Experienced in building highly effective teams, she trains and empowers participants to strengthen organizations. Skilled in communication/employee motivation, she teaches that people make organizations great.
