Okay

I was really excited about this book but it definitely fell flat for me. I'm giving it four stars because it could be helpful for folks who are just getting into character development. It has nuggets of information that was helpful, but I've read cheaper and shorter books on characters and motivations and backgrounds that had punches on every page. The first few chapters of this are so hard to digest; there's so many references thrown at the reader. References are great for connecting a concept to something a reader may know, but there were so many to trudge through, it made the reading stale and slow- and I'm not even accounting for the fact that I only really knew TWO of the references that were used. After getting through the first bit of the book, the references are sprinkled in, making it for a much easier read, but again- overall I was pretty disappointed, and I don't think the nuggets of info it gave me that were helpful was worth the price point.
