This is a good introduction to the battle of bunker (breed's) hill in 1775. The story is well written for young readers, and I endorse it. I look at this particular battle as a turning point in the war, even though it was the first stand up formal battle. If the "Yankees" of New England had not stood their ground that day against the British bayonet charge, the other colonists, who would soon learn about it by reading letters from participants in their local newspapers, would not have risked their own lives to "go meet the British" as people expressed it back then. Enjoy this novel, and keep reading others. - Gregory Edgar, author of 6 books on the Rev War, including 2 middle school novels
