Early settlers who had made homes on the Charleston peninsula traveled west to develop the suburban neighborhoods of St. Andrew's Parish: Byrnes Downs, Albemarle Point, the Crescent, Moreland, Old Windermere, South Windermere, Wappoo Heights, and Westwood.
