Romeo, oh-no! Romeo Juliet is already wondering whether her live-in boyfriend Will has lost his lust for life -- and for her -- when tragedy strikes: He stands her up. On Valentine's Day. Then some jerk in a fancy car splashes her with icky London rain water, takes a good, hard look at her, and drives away. What's worse he was gorgeous, the kind of guy you dream would sweep you off your feet...or at least remember you on Valentine's Day. On top of having to win a big advertising account at work it's a wonder Juliet doesn't collapse into a puddle herself. The course of true love never did run smooth To Juliet's surprise, the mystery driver turns out to be an adman named Sykes -- her competition for the hot account -- and he's awfully sorry about the splashing. So sorry that he whisks Juliet away for a romantic weekend in Verona, the storied home of her Shakespearean namesake. A funny thing happens, though. When Juliet gets back, Will's all sweet again and Sykes pitches an ad campaign suspiciously similar to Juliet's. Suddenly it's time for fair Juliet to decide whether she and Sykes are meant-to-be star-crossed lovers -- or whether Romeo has been right by her side all along.
I have always found it hard to really get into a book and finish it. This wasn't a problem when I started reading Calling Romeo. I couldn't put it down and finished it in just a few days.
A great escape!

The refreshing thing about this story is that it starts where most romantic novels leave off... the two lovers have already managed to overcome obstacles and get together... so now what? If you've ever sat in a theater after a romantic comedy and wondered what happens next, when the two lovers have to make it in the REAL world of dirty laundry and cranky moods and unemployment, etc... this book will take you down that path. The path for our heroine is sometimes fraught with disappointment, difficult choices, mixed messeges and romantic complications, but it's fun going on that journey with her... and watching her make the same mistakes a lot of us in the real world do! Of course, her life is a bit more fabulous than the average gal, but that's the other part I liked about the book! I felt I got an inside peek into hip London life. I didn't want the story to end! If Juliet were a real person, I'd want her in my circle of friends, cause she'd always have the funniest observations, the best gossip and a sweet, understanding ear when the boyfriend situation gets to be a pain! Pick up this book, now that Sex and the City is off the air, it'll help ease the loss!
Hooked from the beginning!

As soon as I started reading this novel, I couldn't put it down. I read it in one sitting. I highly recommend this book...frequently uses British slang, though.
A very enjoyable read

This is the third book by this author and I have read every one of them and they just get better every time. Her books are lighthearted, funny and very true to life. Her descriptions of the characters are vivid and endear themselves to you. If you have ever been in any of the situations, you can easily empathise. Am looking forward to reading the latest book DO YOU COME HERE OFTEN? which I understand is out in the UK next month so it will be first on my list when I visit in the summer!
Loved it! She is now on my 'must buy' list.

I stopped into our local Borders on my lunch break, started reading this, and was hooked right away. Bought the book and read it in one sitting. Love her writing style, it's very real, yet funny, with great descriptions and a way of telling the story that pulls you right in. It's the kind of book you just want to put the radio on, and curl up under a cozy blanket with. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of a coincidence at the end that was just ridiculous, and could have been handled in a far more believeable way. She redeemed herself though, and I can't wait to read more by this author.
