It's the history book that you can grab at the Roosevelt International Park gift shop, and it's the one that gives you the quick study of the Campobello story. Most of the literature one finds on the island pertains to the Roosevelt story - FDR and Eleanor summered here, brought one child into the world here, and the future President of the United States even contracted polio here - but this title brings the reader back to the early days of European settlement on the island. The author weaves solid, short tales of the history of the island, interspersing them with an excellent selection of historic and modern (for the original 1975 publication date) photographs.
