It's a publishing phenomenon. Introduced forty years ago, Ladies' Home Journal's' CAN THIS MARRIAGE BE SAVED?' is the most popular, most enduring women's magazine feature in the world. Drawing every month from the files of professional counselors and therapists, CAN THIS MARRIAGE BE SAVED?' presents stories of real-life couples in distress and their efforts to overcome it. Now for the first time ever, CAN THIS MARRIAGE BE SAVED?' is transformed into a book. Selected by series' editor Margery D. Rosen, here is a compilation of the feature's most interesting cases. Scattered throughout are Skill Builders, Do's and Don'ts, Ten Things Never to Argue About, exercises, quizzes, role-playing dialogues and other sidebar material. Selection of the Better Homes & Gardens Family Book Service, Doubleday Book Club, and Health Book Club.
A lot of people call me a pessimist but as the last remaining single male wanting to have a flawless, infidelity free, marriage I wanted to know the worst case scenarios of what could go wrong in a marriage and be prepared to deal with it which is why I bought the book. After studying the unbiased cases in the book I must say I am a better person. It presents real life cases in real life language that real people can understand and in my opinion the average 'relationship' is affected by at least 70% of these challenges. It may have been titled 'can this relationship be saved?' beacuse the lessons can be applied to all manner of male/female(gay!!) emotional interactions. It's particularly surprising how seemingly doomed marriages make a good turnaround for the better with a little effort from parties involved.'There is hope', 'real world drama'It's not a book you'll read cover to cover in a day but you're sure to find youself mirrored in a few of its pages. For sheer entertainment it's a good read and I highly reccommend it to anyone wanting to make a success of their relationship.Yole Akinnawo.
