This book provides a concise guide to the management of common cardiac emergencies including, in particular, the management of a full cardiorespiratory arrest. As well as dealing with cardiac arrest associated with ischemic heart disease, details are given of the management of cardiac arrest from less common causes, including asthma, pulmonary embolism, anaphylaxis and drug overdose. A chapter on pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation, written by Dr. David Zideman, is also included. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation in a hospital is a team task, and a description of how the team should be organized is given, together with the recommended allocation of roles to individual team members.
