When Carmello was growing up he wanted to be just like his father, the biggest crack supplier in Queens. But after his father and mother are executed gangland style, his younger brother Caine and sister China want to know what Carmello is going to do about it. And on the streets, where nothing is ever sacred and loyalty is only a word, Carmello is about to learn all about greed, trust and friendship.
Carmello was not a typical choice for me, but I was happily surprised when I read it because the story and characters have life in them. Carmello is one of those books that goes by so fast while you're reading it, at the end of the last page you are a little disappointed that it's all over. Now you have to find something else to read, and it may not be as good. If you like the genre of urban fiction and you like an edgy story, you will like this book too.
Great Story Line

I absolutely loved this book . I thought this urban fiction was going to be like the rest ,but it was a breath of fresh air . Just when I thought the drama was over it was another twist to the story, which kept me on pins and needles. I will recommend this book to anyone who loves urban Drama. Kudos to the author !!

Carmello Deen wants nothing more than to live life on the straight and narrow. His brother Caine and sister China have other ideas. Wanting to restake their family claim in the drug game, Carmello reluctantly leads them back into the fast life. Of course it doesn't come without risks, and in the end the Deen family pays dearly. Again. Carmello has to make a decision. Stay in the game or get out. Not since The Coldest Winter Ever and Dutch have I read a book that captivated me from the first page to well beyond the last. I LOVED this book. The characters and the story are so well detailed and just when you think you've figured out the story, you're thrown for another loop. Rahsaan Ali has yet another Essence best seller on his hands. He definitely has a spot in my top five authors.
