Terrorism is a difficult battle to fight as it is not necessarily of a particular government, but often of sub-governmental clandestine agents who wish to politically or religiously motivate a group of people. Many of the elementary traditional aspects of community disappear, leaving few conventional targets to attack. It cannot be assumed that peaceful and diplomatic relations overseas as a means of deterrence for attack will continue as the most effective and safe means of presenting national security. Now, more than ever, conventional forces are opening up to the resources of Special Operations Forces and are ready to accept their role in the Global War on Terror. Their success in Iraq only precludes the possibilities of functional battlefield collaboration if definitive links were established between SOF, conventional forces, as well as government agencies related with national defense. The only thing capable of holding us back is the bureaucracy. Battling terrorism is not a matter of choice; its a matter of survival.
