More stars, more scarves, and more sales The follow-up to Celebrity Scarves offers knitters new designs to try and personal stories to enjoy. And they'll feel good knowing that a portion of the sales go to a great cause--the Avon Foundation, the foremost non-profit agency advocating a cure for breast cancer. Twenty more celebrity knitters, such as David Arquette (the first male featured); Dakota Fanning (of Hide and Seek fame), and Desperate Housewife Felicity Huffman, dish about the scarf patterns they love most. And every one is in pink, as a salute to the fight against breast cancer. What makes this special, beyond the projects and the donated proceeds, are the stories the contributors share: Andrea Martin, star of TV and Broadway, reveals how she learned to knit at 10 years old at the side of her grandmother, who had fled Turkey after witnessing many tragedies. Karen Allen (Raiders of the Lost Ark) presents her Kilim Cross designs, and discusses how antique rugs provide inspiration for her stitching. Never has a knitting book been so entertaining to read, and so important to buy.
I own both Celebrity Scarves 1 & 2 and I'm having fun with both of them. I'm just a beginner so the fact that there are a lot of garter stitch scarves is fine with me. Knitting is very addictive and these books make it even more so! I find it incredibly relaxing...very yoga like...and you can make the easy projects while you're watching a movie too. I suspect it will take me awhile before I advance to sweaters so I see a lot of scarves in my future! They're also great gifts! I've made scarves for my Mom, for friends, for some of the staff at one of my doctor's offices, for the UPS guy....once you start, you can't stop! Unfortunately, I do have expensive taste in yarn...I lean toward cashmere! If you have a beginning knitter that you need to buy a gift for, these books are perfect. You could even pick out the yarn needed for one of the beginning projects, along with the needles, etc and you'll have a gift that is a huge hit! Enjoy!
Good book for patterns, good book for the coffee table

This book has some pretty interesting paterns for scarves made by celebrities. This book also has some bio information on the people who made the scarves, and proceeds go to benefit a great cause. A lot of the yarns featured are not easily found locally, so substitutions may be required. All in all, I would recommend this book.
