Excellent Resource for PHR/SPHR Certification

I used an earlier version of this manual as a guide to study for the SPHR examination. That's exactly what this manual is: a guide to help professionals in human resources to pass the certification examination. As a tutor assisting other professionals prepare for the examinations, I use this guide as a the template to assist each candidate to make a personal study outline. The practice examination has questions that are in the same format as the actual examination. My suggestion for prospective credential candidates is the take the test, study the topics in the guide, then take the test again. Carefully examine the percentages listed in each topic category and pattern your efforts accordingly.While this guide is not a cure-all, it is a great resource. It is a light on the path to certification. Walking along this path takes hard work.
High-level orientation to the PHR/SPHR exam

This book provides a helpful overview to orient a candidate to understanding the look/feel of the PHR/SPHR exam. However, this book will not prepare a candidate for the exam. It provides more sample questions then the free certification handbook and can be a good place to start if you are unfamilar with the exam. However,individuals looking to minimize $$$ spent and interested in certification should consider investing in a good HR text book (try Mathias & Jackson HR text and student resource guide) and/or consider an SHRM study course.
It's the Only Book You Need to Pass the SPHR!

An experienced HR person can pass the SPHR using this guide and the internet. That's all, no other books.There are three very useful parts: 1) The practice test is extremely helpful, 2) The outline is a great guide to study by; and 3) There are good test tips and suggestions.The key for passing the SPHR is learning how to test well. This guide is great for finding areas that need improvement.
