I don't dislike this book, however, for a book who's title is nothing but "Charlemagne" one might hope for a bit more about the man, in fact, there may be more in this book about the people who came before and after him, than the man himself. The actual parts about Charlemagne are padded with poems, and pictures with large requotes of something from the same page in large text to farther pad in an already very short book. I would be lying if I said that it didn't hit some good broad strokes and incorporate a few good fun facts, and would recommend it in the event that you wanted a very short quick introduction to the figure only slightly longer than the Wikipedia article.
