This book reads like fiction but its all true. True crime seems to be more popular than ever and this book is a great true crime book. If you are interested in drug policy, police work or just like a great story this is the book for you. I got a great overview of the whole drug culture involving Ecstacy.

Lisa Sweetingham does an excellent job of making non-fiction not dry and boring. CHEMICAL COWBOYS flows easily and one gets to know the characters involved by the comprehensive information that she has gathered about the players. At first, I thought maybe I was reading a novel, but photographs proved otherwise. This book is about on how the drug "Ecstasy" became so popular in the clubs, the people who got them into this country and the DEA agents who fought to bring it all down. Ms. Sweetingham's research is thorough and detailed and she leaves no stone unturned. This is an enjoyable true crime story.

I found "Chemical Cowboys" hard to put down. It is a fascinating account of the efforts to bring to justice the kingpins of the ecstasy trade and is full of plot twists and colorful characters. At times I felt like I was in the middle of a page-turning crime novel but the fact is -it really happened. It must have taken years of painstaking research. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone.

CHEMICAL COWBOYS is a riveting true crime expose into the world of "E" -- the club drug that exploded in the 90s. It's a fascinating look at the players behind the pill, the distribution networks and the high-stakes game they played.

The book reads like a novel. I usually don't read non-fiction, but a friend insisted I read it. I couldn't put it down. The characters draw you in and the details are absolutely fascinating!
