1. Almost two million men and women get divorced each year in the U.S., and the process can take years. Most people need a few years to recover after the divorce as well. Therefore, the audience for this book is in the 5-10 million range. Many people buy a self-help book for the first time in their lives when they are getting divorced. 2. Chicken Soup for the Soul has always provided strong support for men and women living through big changes. Readers turn to Chicken Soup during the good times and the bad. 3. The Chicken Soup line is being updated with new covers, new interior layouts, excellent editing, and up-to-date stories. The line is also returning to the core values of its heyday, delivering 101 stories in every book. 4. Chicken Soup for the Soul earned the Guinness World Record for having the most books on the New York Times bestseller list at one time. 5. Last year, USA Today named Chicken Soup for the Soul #5 on its list of 25 books that left a legacy over the past quarter century. The heartfelt stories in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Divorce and Recovery provide support, inspiration, and sometimes humor on all the phases of divorce. The writers share their personal stories about the initial shock of the decision, to the logistics of living through the divorce, to the inevitable self-discovery, and the new world of dating and even remarriage. It is a wonderfully uplifting book. Readers going through a divorce will find this book a tremendous source of emotional support and a good guide as to what to expect as they go through the process. The first Chicken Soup for the Soul book was published in 1993, and became a publishing industry sensation, ultimately selling eight million copies. Thank you

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I was divorced 12 years ago and at the time wrote to the Chicken Soup People hoping to find the comfort that I knew would come from one of your books and was greatly disapointed to read that it was "in the works". Well 3 weeks ago I received an e-mail saying that there was now a book for the divorced. I ordered it right away and it came in 3 days. I sat down and read the 1st story and it was as though I had written it myself. She wrote my every feeling, about my pain and heartache, she seemed to know ME and had walked with me through the whole ordeal. Believe me, after 12 years I seemed to get the relief I was looking for and needed. I cried quite a bit that afternoon but it was a truly "good" cry. I read a few more stories and later in the evening went back and read the 1st story out loud so I could hear the words. I can't thank you enough and even though it took 12 years it was well worth it. I intend to get this book for anyone I hear is facing this time in their lives and pray they will find the comfort I have found. Thank you!!

Chicken Soup for the Soul: Divorce and Recovery

I am a divorce financial planner and many times deal with confused clients who are struggling with the upcoming divorce. I received the book yesterday and this morning read the first 3 chapters and found it a great tool for my clients. I am now ordering a quantity to have on hand to give to a troubled client. The stories are inspiring and thought provoking. Good Book!

Healing and Humor

I think this book will be a great comfort to those going through a difficult time in their lives. It will bring healing and humor, as well as a sense of "I can get through this" and "I'm not alone," which is critical when facing the emotional strain of going through a divorce. Chicken Soup books are filled with stories about real people in real situations. Some stories are heartwarming, some heart-wrenching. Some will make you laugh, some will make you cry. I like the way they stir my emotions, and help me work through difficult times. I contributed my own story to Divorce and Recovery. Although I don't feel that I have any better insight into dealing with divorce than anyone else who has gone through it. I was fortunate to get involved with a small group through my church that addressed bitterness and forgiveness. This helped me uncover the fact that I was carrying around a lot of bitterness from my divorce because I had not forgiven my ex. Thankfully, a way was provided for me to do just that, which is what my story in Divorce and Recovery is about. I hope the readers will see that they can forgive their ex-spouses. Forgiveness is not an easy road to travel, but carrying the burden of bitterness with you only makes your life's journey more difficult. The dedication reads "To all the hearts that have been broken: may you find help and hope within this book - maybe even some laughter - to help you heal again." There are so many issues addressed in this wonderfully insightful book. If you are dealing with divorce, get this for yourself. If you know someone who is dealing with a divorce, do them a favor by giving them this invaluable resource.

Forgiveness is a gift to yourself!

I, too, have a story included in this wonderful book. But, the divorce I write about is my parents' divorce in the 1960's....the devastation and sadness I felt as a young girl and for many years after. Because of my dad's near abandonment, it took me over 30 years to truly forgive him. Forgiveness is an amazing gift to yourself, as well as to the person you forgive.

the beginning, not the end

My friendship with my first husband lasted for over fifty years. I am so pleased to pay tribute to that long relationship in my story, When He Looked Like James Dean, in this new book. I urge those who divorce not to allow bitterness to get in the way of getting on with their lives, nor to let differences cloud the memory of the attraction that drew them together in the first place. The key word in this book's title is "recovery." It's not an easy task, but those who get past the first trying days of the divorce often find that they may face opportunity in a way they never had imagined.
