The lives of the children who lived in Britain's great country houses during the 19th century were a mixed scenario, including dysfunctional and remote families as well as close and loving ones.... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Very well written book about the lives of those children who grew up in the country estates of England. The first part is divided into 14 very readable chapters, such as: Mothers and Fathers, Privilege and Pleasure, Sickness and Health, and Bastards and Break-ups, amoung others. The second part of the book deals with four families in particular; the Howards, the Cecils, the Russells, and the Lytteltons. Facinating read illustrated throughout. A great resource!
