Choices is an engaging, light-hearted, contemporary story set in coastal South Carolina, where an African-American woman and Caucasian widower find love, opposition, and a surprising ally in the ghost... This description may be from another edition of this product.
"Choices" is a refreshing debut novel by Tammy Williams. It is quite an entertaining read with a nice mix of drama and romance. She has created an engaging cast of characters, main and secondary, with some clever dialogue throughout, even from the "children. Ryan and Lara's attraction is mutual and instantaneous. And Ryan's son, Justin is quite the little charmer. I was definitely caught up in the romance, the tension-filled opposition they faced and even the occasional ghostly visits from their greatest supporter. I also enjoyed the humorous moments with Ryan and Lara's family and their circle of friends. And as so many of the other reviewers stated this novel definitely LACKED the loads of spelling or grammatical errors I have unfortunately become accustomed to seeing in quite a few of the novels I have read this year. Kudos, Ms. Williams! I'll definitely keep an eye out for any of her future novels.
Loved It!

I loved this book. This is the first published book by Tammy Williams and she has done a wonderful job. The charactors were real and all stood out whether you liked them or not. I am looking forward to her next book.
Couldn't stop reading the book once I started

This was an excellent book. Even the secondary characters were very well written. I wasn't too sure about the dead wife's ghost but it worked, just as it did in movies like Ghost and Truly, Madly, Deeply. And as other reviewers have mentioned the editing was very good. It was a sweet, romantic, enjoyable read for me this weekend and I hope to see future book from this author soon.
A really lovely romance

If you like contemporary romances, a handsome widower (Ryan) with a young son, who meets a woman (Lara) his son's school teacher and finally finds a reason to move on...then this is the story for you.. It is a romantic read full of sweet moments and hesitant moments between two people who may have a second chance together. Even the introduction of Shelly, Ryan's deceased wife was well done, as she prodded him to pursue happiness; and his son Justin well I just fell in love with him. All in all a really wonderful romantic read by this author...and well edited.
Great Read

The book was a great read. Lara, Ryan and Justin are extremely likeable and you can't help but to root for them through their journey. Ryan takes his son to meet his new teacher, Lara, expecting to find an old grey haired woman. He is surprised to meet Lara who he is instantly attracted to, a feeling he hasn't had, even after over 3 years of morning his wife's death. Ryan is surprised that he has such strong and instant feelings for his son's pretty teacher and his son Justin is also drawn out of his shyness because of his interaction with Lara. Ryan and Lara immediately explore their feelings and start a relationship that not everyone sees as a positive. The ghost of his dead wife, who not only wants him to find happiness for himself and their son, but also needs him to, encourages Ryan to pursue the relationship. Family and friends who support them and want only the best for them surround Ryan and Lara, but there are a few people who allow their bigotry to show and threaten the couple's happiness. Ms. Williams did a great job in including Shelly's ghost (Ryan's late wife) without it being odd, weird or spooky. The ending to this book is one of the most touching that I have read. The only disappointing thing about this book was when I finished reading it because I wanted to read more. Hint Hint Ms. Williams - Norris needs a steady love interest.
