A far-ranging study of the Christian relationship to the state and all wordly powers, this book is as provocative as its unusual title. Christian Anarchy says Vernard Eller, is the faith in God's... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Christian Anarchy is a very interesting book discussing the politics of the bible and how Christians should go about dealing with political institutions of power. These include traditional Arky's such as governments, but also "arkys" such as churches and other "adversarial" organizations. Basically, Eller argues that Christians should not renounce or fight for or against powers, but rather take the stance of "speaking the truth with love." This stance is neither traditionally Anarchistic nor revolutionary, but rather seeks to illustrate how the bible instructs Christians to remove themselves from Arkys that have them forget that God's own Arky is more important. The only detraction is that Eller's ideas are presented in a rather quarky style and is presented at an advanced reader level. However, the book is a must read for all.
