Inside you is the power to do anything When seven babies are born without shadows, the fairies fear that humankind might be losing its closest companions! Cinnabar and her friends have to travel by elf magic to reach the mysterious and secret Island of Shadows to try and locate the lost shadows. But, as if that is not hard enough, Madam Toad fears the shadows are not just misplaced, but stolen! Fortunately, the King and Queen of the Shadowmakers-and even their Griffin-are ready to help fight whatever is responsible. But the fairies will have to work fast. Without the magical protection of shadows, all of mankind will soon be defenseless. What if you discovered you had magical fairy powers? Meet the girls of The Fairy Chronicles, otherwise normal girls like you with special gifts. Their extraordinary adventures will change the world!
Cinnabar is a moth fairy. She has pretty red wings. She gets to ride on a turtle in the sea with Mimosa and Dewberry. One of the lady fairies in this story has a very tiny hummingbird feather wand. We have hummingbird feeders and hummingbirds. The island has a volcano. The shadowmakers make human beings shadows. One of the shadowmakers is a doublecrosser. The fairies help the King and Queen of the shadowmakers get shadows back that were stolen. I think Cinnabar has a very important job as a fairy. She is a pretty girl ballerina in real life. This is a good book about a fairy who is a girl ballerina in real life.
Simply Inspirational

My daughter, a fairy herself, disappears into each new Fairy Chronicle book. When she returns, several hours later, she is filled with excitement and inspiration - she then designs her own Web of Dreams friendship bracelet or composes her own shadow poem. The entire series is a wonderful example of storytelling, mixing fact and fantasy, making the brave young heroines partners with the natural world around them, giving my young reader a place to explore various methods of expression. We own every one in print, and have pre-ordered the titles yet to be released. J.H. Sweet, Thank You for the magic.

J. H. Sweet ... What a treat ... Writing 'bout fairies, she can't be beat. Book one was pure delight; Book two is "out of sight." Book three is a kid's dream, Book four will make them beam. But wait till you see what's in store; of fairy books, she has plenty more. Each of this author's books stands alone as far as story-line, and I discovered something new about fairies and fairy lore in each one. She's a fine writer, so good at her craft that the fairies came alive for me. Interesting story-lines, colorful characters in an exciting, entertaining format. I have all of this series, including the few that were published by another publisher ... which are collector's items now. I could hardly wait until December 15th for this one and another one (the latest two) to be released. Then the 15th caught me unawares, so I'm a few days late posting this review. Highly recommended.
