The 1981 discovery of mysterious and beautiful circular depressions in fields of crops in southern Britain has initiated a full and scientific investigation by the authors, who are founder members of... This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is the granddaddy of all crop circle books. Lots of pictures. Lots of first hand reporting. Short on speculation. The authors were in southern England, got interested, and started driving around to the crop circles that were appearing in fields near them. They took photos. They measured. They made sketches of how the plants were flattened. They talked to the farmers whose fields they had to trespass upon to do this work. After ten years of this, in 1988 they decided to publish what they'd seen in a book. It sold hundreds of thousands of copies, and made crop circles a household word. For an introduction to the subject, this book is still an excellent choice. Though flawed by the limited geographic coverage, the strong emphasis on factual reporting, adequate prose, and plentiful pictures make this book a winner.
