This is a beautifully wrought introduction to classical music, aimed squarely at the neophyte and replete with time lines and lots of handsome photographs. It is accompanied by a 70+ minute compact... This description may be from another edition of this product.
Waugh has put together a beautiful book that describes what classical music is all about, with fine visual art to accompany the characteristics of the pieces/composers. Waugh is not a snob about classical music (and aptly describes the music snobs one may encounter). The only drawback is that the music excerpts are mostly quiet, pastoral pieces; wish he had put in more variety of classical works with thunder and lightening.
