There is no book by B.J.Hoff that I wouldn't recommend. But if you buy this book, you need to buy the Ashes and Lace sequel. It's a marvelous spellbinder, which has made the rounds of my family and back again. I also recommend the Emerald Ballad series which I never let too far from home. They are well worth the price whatever you pay.
Excellent character development

B.J. Hoff is one of my favorite authors. Her characters are always real-to-life, they are never unbelievable! Ireland has a beauty and a horror all its own, and Ms. Hoff portrays both. I just wish she would write the sequel--it has been two years.
Honest, inspiring, grabs on and keeps going.

Early 1800 period piece with many charaters. Gives a wonderful view of the troubles and trials of early Irish immigrants. Clean, Christian reading yet still has heart and story. Everyone is human and not above sin. The people are easy to like and make you want to know more about each and every person. I came to love them all. And wanted to shake some sense into a few. The only disappointment is not having the next Book. Where is it????
Super reading
