IMAGE COMICS, "ARTIST-APPROVED SPECIAL EDITION" Abigail is an aspiring hitwoman out to prove her value to the family. She braves the wilds of Newark, overpriced parking, traffic jams, and bad hair days to track down Trevor, her former mentor, who is on the lam with a big briefcase full of mob dough. A beautifully revised, redrawn, and expanded special edition, approved by artist RICH TOMMASO.
Clover Honey is a great nihilistic crime drama. A man, Trevor, is sent to bet money on a horse. He pockets the money, and then the horse wins. His cousin, Abigail, a hitman-in-training is sent to find him. The action splits between Trevor's and Abigail's perspective. We see their history, their town, and their families. No one in this story is happy. No one in this story believes in much beyond themselves. Life is, and life sucks. The main characters are shells of people, drained by their environment and their life styles. There is no real joy or love in them, only apathy with occasional bouts of anger. Tommaso's art style, as usual, accents the bleak and grimy world of the narrative. It is stylized, telling, beautiful, and ugly all at the same time. This book is a good read, if you are in the mood for this type of story. I recommend it highly to all.
