The anterians we know from the 1985 Ron Howard film are not present in the book version. There are a whole different set of anterians in the book headed by a nice alien named Amos Bright instead of Walter. The female of the group is named Beam not Kitty. I wont give away the whole book, but I will say this: While slow at times, and a little annoying at some parts, Cocoon is a good book. I recomend this book for a good read.
