The CogAT? (Cognitive Abilities Test?) is typically the first test a student must take to be accepted into a gifted and talented program. The level 5/6 test is typically given at some point during the Kindergarten year. The level indicates the age of the student being tested. The test was designed to measure learned reasoning abilities in the three areas most linked to academic success in school - verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal. The test will provide the student's school with an indication of how the student will perform in a gifted and talented program. Our practice tests include an explanation for each question, so you can help your child understand why the answers are what they are. The formatting of our practice tests was modeled after the actual test, so students will be familiar with the format when they take the actual test.
