Interwoven short stories speed characters through the Event Horizon where life is freed of ordinary constraints. The landscape is unstable: because of a con artist, a homestead is sold out from under a bed-bound man who thinks the bed is a car. His wife's ghost sleeps in bed with his daughter and the ghost of her husband, who is still alive. The stories cast anti-shadows on isolation, populating it with a lugubrious house that disappears its friend, a histrionic splayed frog turned into a Tarot card by her father, a salesman with a black hole for a mouth, a dog couple who become stuck at right angles to each other. People live on multiple levels of existence.
